Our Story

More Than an Outdoor Store

At The Bly Outdoor Store, we’re more than just a shop — we’re part of a legacy. We serve the hardworking people of Bly and the surrounding region with outdoor gear, practical knowledge, and dependable local service.

We are a third-generation rodeo and ranch family. Our connection to this place also includes volunteering with the local fire department and supporting the community we call home.

Whether you’re preparing for hunting season, heading to a mountain lake, planning a family hike, or spending another day working outdoors, our goal is to help you leave ready.

Rodeo Roots

A Heritage Built in the Arena

Long before The Bly Outdoor Store, rodeo was part of Dave Wilson’s life. From 1979 to 1992, he competed from the high school rodeo ranks through the professional level. In 1988, Dave held a permit with the Northwest Rodeo Association, competing throughout the region and carrying forward the Wilson family’s ranching and rodeo traditions.

Family Tradition of Service

Answering the Call Across Generations

For the Wilson family, caring for the community has always meant answering the call. Dave’s father, Mel Wilson, served as a chaplain and EMT with the local ambulance and fire department. Today, Dave and his son Chakotay continue that tradition as active volunteers with the Bly Rural Fire Protection District.
